EMC / RF COMPETENCE CENTER

Huber Automotive is actively working on the standardization and EMC/HF/signal integrity safeguarding of future high-speed communication systems (up to 25 GHz) of control units in vehicles. Application examples include autonomous driving, high-resolution display connections, camera networking or sensor data processing.

In addition to participating in various committees such as CiA and Open Alliance, we work with new technologies and secure them for our project partners with a focus on EMC / RF / signal integrity. This also includes the development and construction of test control devices, topology, … and for example, the measurement in our own EMC hall.

CAN in Automation

CAN in Automation (CiA) is the international user and manufacturer group for the CAN network (Controller Area Network), which is internationally standardized in the ISO 11898 series. The non-profit association was founded in 1992. The aim is to provide an unbiased platform for future developments of the CAN protocol and to promote the image of CAN technology.

OPEN ALLIANCE

The OPEN Alliance (One-Pair Ether-Net) Inc. is a non-profit, open industry alliance in which mainly the automotive industry and technology providers work together to promote the widespread acceptance of Ethernet-based networks as the standard for network applications in the automotive sector.

IN ADDITION, ALL THEMES AROUND ETHERNET, CAN AND HIGH SPEED NETWORKING

COMMITTEE WORK

MEMBER, COOPERATION & MONITORING

STANDARDIZATION PROCESS

  • Member and active participation in the standardization committees Open Alliance and CiA
  • Monitoring of activities in the IEEE 802.3 group (e.g. multigigabit Ethernet, power-over-coax)
  • Work on the following technologies: CAN, CAN FD, CAN XL, 100ABSE-T1, 1000BASE-T1, automotive Multi-Gigabit Ethernet (2.5G, 5G, 10G) etc.

EMC CAUSE ANALYSIS

WE SUPPORT YOU

Huber Automotive also conducts EMC cause analyzes in order to provide you with the best possible support in the event of problems with your electronics. We support you with numerous methods and measurement options such as Circuit diagram and layout reviews, EMC measurements, measurement of electrical or magnetic near fields in order to quickly and effectively identify EMC interference sources and suggest possible solutions.

EMC AND HIGH FREQUENCY TECHNOLOGY

EMC / HF EXPERIMENTAL VEHICLE

For the EMC measurement of vehicles, Huber Automotive AG can fall back on its own EMC vehicle test vehicle. The possibility of also being able to measure vehicles in EMC halls completes the portfolio of the EMC / HF competence center and environmental testing. This makes it possible, for example, to implement various cable sets and laying routes according to customer specifications and to determine practical and extremely meaningful results in a real vehicle environment. Thus, from the development of vehicle control devices (or EMC test control devices / test systems), through EMC measurement at component level in the in-house EMC / HF competence center, including environmental testing, to EMC vehicle measurement, a comprehensive and consistent measurement chain is available.

In particular, the comparison between EMC component measurements and EMC vehicle measurements is extremely relevant in practice, as it is known that results between the two measurements can show significant differences. It is not uncommon for EMC limit values to be exceeded in EMC vehicle measurements even though the EMC component measurement has been passed. This gives our customers the opportunity to test the EMC behavior in the vehicle together with us at an early stage in the development of control units or during the EMC protection of new communication technologies, components, wiring harnesses. In this way, EMC problems can be identified at an early stage and time-consuming and costly rework can be prevented. In addition, these results can be used, for example, for the EMC optimization of a control unit or as input for a standardization committee.

The preparations / modifications are carried out on site in Mühlhausen im Täle. The EMC measurement of the vehicle is carried out at one of our renowned partner laboratories.

ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING

SUBJECT AREAS, SERVICES, EQUIPMENT

In addition to the EMC / HF laboratory, Huber Automotive AG operates its own environmental laboratory with a wide range of measurement technology. There are i.a. Various climate cabinets, temperature cabinets and laboratory cabinets as well as a shaker are available. This means that environmental tests (including humidity) can be carried out in accordance with current environmental standards. A combination of RF and environmental measurements is also possible.

SERVICES

  • Test system development and setup for testing control units and electronic components
  • Testing of control units / electronic components according to LV124-2 or the corresponding OEM standards
  • HF measurements under the influence of temperature (e.g. HF component analyzes under temperature)
  • PreCompliant environmental test of control units / electronic components during the development phase
  • Root cause analysis and elaboration of solutions

INFRASTRUCTURE

  • 4 x climate cabinets (-40 ° C to + 150 ° C including humidity, 350l)
  • 2 x temperature shock cabinets (-40 ° C to + 150 ° C, 60l)
  • 1 x shaker with climatic chamber (-40 ° C to + 150 ° C, 40l)
